Original Japanese ancestor came to Kyusyu,  southern Japan by crossing sea in around 40,000 BP and prevailed up north to Hokkaido by 30,000BP.

Many Paleolithic sites all over Japan indicates it. Then they probably continued to go up north and stepped in American continent along coastal route before Last Glacial Maximum.
